How to make your lunch and learn a success?
7 Tips for a Successful Lunch and Learn Lunch and learn sessions, also known as "learn over lunch" or "lunch and learn" events, are the perfect opportunity to stimulate learning, strengthen team cohesion, and thus contribute to the success of your company. Advice for managers and human resources: 7 tips for successful corporate training while improving the well-being of your teams thanks to the lunch and learn method
1. Choose a relevant topic. The first crucial element for a successful lunch and learn is to choose a topic that is relevant and interesting to your employees, as well as useful for your relationships with your clients and partners. Consider the needs and interests of your employees, as well as the company's objectives. Choose topics that can add real value to their daily work and that will pique their interest.
2. Tailor your meals to your event Organizing a lunch for multiple people can be a real challenge. Make sure you take into account all attendees' allergies and dietary restrictions so everyone can enjoy the event. Then, choose the type of meal: lunches, appetizers, lunch boxes, cold buffet, and adjust the quantities according to your menu choice. Don't forget snacks and coffee breaks: staying hydrated helps maintain focus! If your "lunch and learn" sessions take place regularly, try varying the menu from time to time to keep your attendees interested. 3. Choose an appropriate venue. Whether it's a traditional meeting room, a conference room, or an open-plan table, the key is to choose a place where both speakers and attendees will feel comfortable eating. Make sure the space has good lighting and optimal air circulation to promote good digestion. Finally, opt for spaces that are free from noise and interruptions, and equipped with a projection system if necessary. You can also opt for one of our suggested venues in Montreal.
4. Don't forget remote workers. If it's not possible to have them come to the lunch and learn location, we recommend audio and video conferencing applications such as Microsoft Teams or GoToMeeting. These allow remote workers to easily access the conference and enjoy the lunch and learn in real time. If time differences or other constraints prevent them from participating in the lunch and learn, consider recording the session so that those who are absent can view it at their convenience.
5. Promote the event. Let your organization and attendees know about your event as soon as your speaker and venue are confirmed. Give them plenty of time to respond. Emails can be easily ignored, so don't hesitate to send invitations via your calendar, intranet, or other company communication channels such as posters or text messages. Create excitement by highlighting the ideas and contributions everyone can make.
6. Encourage interaction and participation. A successful lunch and learn session involves active participation from participants. Encourage interaction by asking questions, organizing group activities, and encouraging discussion. Make sure everyone feels comfortable asking questions and sharing their ideas.
7. Collect feedback and evaluate After the event, collect feedback from participants to assess the effectiveness of your lunch and learn. Ask them what they learned, what they enjoyed, and what they would like to see in the future. Use this feedback to improve your future lunch and learns and continue to provide a rewarding experience for your team. Finally, conducting a second evaluation 1 to 3 months after the training will allow you to assess the integration of the training with your teams (knowledge and skills retained and their application, as well as any potential bottlenecks). By following these tips, you can organize a successful lunch and learn that will stimulate learning, strengthen team cohesion, and contribute to the success of your company.
